ATTRITION (UK) PERFORM SPECIAL HALLOWEEN SHOW IN

MELBOURNE

UK post-punk and Industrial pioneers Attrition are touring Australia for the very first time in
October 2024! While Attrition make an extensive trek across the Land Down Under,
Melbourne Rivetheads will experience an extra fiendish extravaganza with a special
Halloween show at the Gasometer Hotel.
From leading the Industrial charge in the 1980s, Attrition have scarcely rested on their
laurels, having unleashed their latest creation on the world in March 2024. Their new album
The Black Maria is a darkly cinematic foray into neo-classical ambience, fuelled by an
anarchistic temperament as potent now as it was in the 80s. With the album dedicated to the
late Kerri Bowes (1982 – 2022), founding member Martin Bowes uses the songs as a
vehicle to explore life, love, loss, longing and death.
As Bowes elaborates, “The Black Maria refers to a menacing 19 th century figure, who would
come to take away our outcasts and miscreants; later used as a slang term for UK police
vans. Nothing much has changed.”
Joining Attrition across the entire tour will be Sydney’s Industrial-Crust powerhouse
Schkeuditzer Kreuz, who recently released the third single ‘Ratchet’ from their latest album
No Life Left (2023). No Life Left is a crushing slab of dark, abrasive, apocalyptic, post-
Industrial music, guaranteed to transport your mindscape to the inevitable end of humanity.
Bringing Gothic beauty and further Industrial fervour to the line-up is Melbourne’s Death of
Art. The beloved pillars of the Melbourne Goth scene, fronted by the spellbinding Erin
Blackie, are well-versed in international supports with previous shows with Wednesday 13
and PAIN in their extensive history.
Completing the line-up is Melbourne-based Darkwave/Synthpop act Palliative, uniting the
spirit of the past with the shadow of the future through a blend of 80s-inspired Darkwave and
Futurepop. The funeral march will begin promptly with this opening act, and the entire
ceremony will bring the congregation of this All Hallows Eve to a ritualistic communion with
death and beyond.
The rite is proudly presented by Boot Sequence, Melbourne’s live Industrial, EBM and
Synthpop nightclub.
